Beach Getaway

On October 24, 2012, in Uncategorized, by Admin

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to get away for a few days to spend some quality time with my children.  I love being able to travel to new places in Cambodia, and I enjoyed being able to share that with the people I love.

Sihanoukville is more than just a port city; it is an interesting town with a lot of personality.  The beach closest to the city, Serendipity, was lined with family-owned restaurants serving reasonably priced Cambodian dishes, and we also discovered some of the best seafood I’ve ever had at some other restaurants in town.

Using a tuk-tuk, we were able to visit a few off-the-beaten track locations with pristine beaches.  Otres beach was perfect for swimming, and we loved having the vast stretches of white sand beaches all to ourselves.  The scenery was amazing, and the water was perfect.  I spent some nice mornings just walking up and down the shoreline.  We also played American football on the beach with some other families we met.

If you follow my blog regularly, then you know that one of my favorite activities is fishing.  So, of course, we took a long boat ride out into the ocean and spent a very nice day fishing, swimming, and enjoying some quiet time.

What is your favorite place to go on vacation in Cambodia?  Where do you think my children and I should visit next?

Mr. Ambassador, I am a Cambodian born, but live most of my lives here in Michigan for over 32 years. I had the opportunity to go back to Cambodia last November for the first time since I left. It was an emotional visit for me.
I guess my reason for this is to ask you are there any opportunity or job opportunity for a former Khmer national, who are now an American citizen, there in Cambodia?
I do have a bachelor degree in Public and Non-Profit Administration for Grand Valley State University.
Thank you for your time, Mr. Ambassador

Hello: I am new to your blog, so I don’t know where else you have visited. I am interested in going to the Viet Nam Economic Zone… I am told that this is just over the border from Cambodia and that no passport or visa is required. I think that this would be a good place for you and your loved ones to visit.
