This blog is the work of the Public Affairs section at  U.S. Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand. We’re trying to build events and showcase the connection the United States has with New Zealand and Samoa through sports.

One of the highlights of the Embassy’s Rugby World Cup program last year was launching a rugby blog to discuss America’s long rugby tradition and the interesting rugby links between New Zealand and the United States. We updated the blog regularly with news, features, photos, flashbacks, interviews, videos, and play-by-play posts from games. It attracted a robust following of rugby fanatics from many countries.

So, with the Rugby World Cup behind us, we’ve decided to keep the rugby blog but morph it into a more general Sport Diplomacy blog that focuses on the connections, collaborations, and activities shared by athletes from the United States, New Zealand, and Samoa. There is certainly a lot to talk about.

So enjoy – and take part. Let us know your thoughts. Give us your tips – for stories about sports diplomacy, not about our blogging – at usrugby.nz@gmail.com
