No-Shows and Latecomers (NIV)

On September 11, 2012, in Nonimmigrant Visas, by Admin

Applicants for nonimmigrant visas are advised to arrive at the Embassy gates at least an hour before their scheduled appointments and to be inside the Embassy at least 15 minutes before their appointments.

Please make sure that all necessary documents are available on the day of the interview to avoid any inconvenience or delay of your appointment.

Although all applicants should plan to arrive early, we understand that sometimes unexpected events do occur. A one-hour grace period may be granted to the applicant, depending on the circumstances.

Applicants are only allowed to reschedule their appointments twice through the call center (not including the initial appointment) without penalty. If the second rescheduled appointment is canceled, an applicant will only be allowed to reschedule after a waiting period of 90 days.

Please note that same-day and next-day expedited appointments are not available.

In general, aliens intending to work or live in the United States must have a relative, fiancé(e) or potential employer file a visa petition with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office, which has jurisdiction over his/her place of residence. The USCIS must approve the visa petition before an immigrant or a fiancé(e) nonimmigrant visa application can be considered.
You may wish to visit the following websites:
      (1) http://manila.usembassy.gov
      (2) http://www.uscis.gov
      (3) http://travel.state.gov
which provide comprehensive information on immigrant visa petition procedures and the multi-step process to become an immigrant.

Your dad may also wish to contact USCIS National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283 regarding visa petition filing information.

If an alien intends to stay in the U.S. temporarily, he/she may elect to apply for a nonimmigrant visitor’s (B1/B2) visa. There is no guarantee that the visitor visa application will be successful. The applicant should be prepared to demonstrate that he/she has sufficiently strong familial, social, economic, and/or professional ties that would compel his/her return after a temporary stay in the United States.

Information regarding B1/B2 visas is available at the Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) Unit’s web site at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3024.html.

hello i am K1 and my daughter included in the petition, in the DS forms, we just check the boxes there that says “to follow” meaning she will follow me to the US, my problem is i will be having my interview on Oct 18, but i did not include my daughter in my medical and interview because all i know is she will be having a separate medical and interview if ever she will follow me next year (she is 17 years old already)… is there any possibility that the consulate will deny me or ask me to come back and bring my daughter?
    thank you very much.

Thank you for your interest in the VISAtisfied Voyager.

Your eligibility to receive a visa will not be based on whether you appear on your visa interview without your daughter. As a principal applicant, your visa application will be processed separately with your derivative. Your daughter may come for an interview once she is ready to initiate processing her visa application.

    Hello,

I had an interview last May 21. I went there and I was told to re-apply (fill-out another form) because I was scheduled under PIP. And since my purpose is non-business, i should be scheduled during a regular appointment (non-PIP). I tried to have it re-schedule online and even called thrice, but the system wont allow me since my receipt nbr is still linked with my previous application. My travel is on June 27. How long will it take for the system to remove the link so I will be able to re-schedule? If I pay again, will the system acknowledge it eventhough its the same passport number? Please advise. Thanks.

    • NIV1 says:

Hi Selle. You should be able to have a regular appointment by now. Please email ConsManilaNIV@state.gov with your complete name and date of birth and follow up on the untagging of your receipt. You do not need to pay again. Thank you.
